SoHo Says…Support our military service members, including the four legged ones!

Since today is Flag Day and the 4th of July is just around the corner, I thought I would dedicate this blog to our military service members who risk their lives for us… men, women and dogs too!

Did you know that there are nearly 3,000 dogs on active duty in the American military? Dogs have been serving on active military duty as far back as World War I. The importance of these four legged service members was not known until recently, when a Belgian Malinois named Cairo played a critical role on the raid on bin Laden.

The work that military dogs perform is endless – that of which no human or advanced technology can perform. They perform essential search and rescues, are trained to serve overseas to combat terrorism and often warn soldiers of bombs which have saved so many lives because of their powerful noses.

At about the age of 8 or 9, military dogs look forward to retirement and thanks to President Clinton, civilians can adopt these fur-friends into our families. What an honor – knowing that a member of your family served in the military. My sister, Coco Chanel, and I are considering adopting a retired military hero into our family – will you? To find out more information on adopting a retired military dog, please review the information on the attached link.
