SoHo Says…October is Adopt a Dog Month

October 1, 2010

Are you looking for…
• An exercise buddy?
• A companion for your child or favorite senior citizen?
• A dog to train for therapy?
• A buddy to watch your favorite TV show, like the Rachel Zoe Project (that’s mine)?
• A little face to greet you after a hard day at work?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, I highly recommend that you participate in “Adopt a Dog Month” by checking out your local shelter and finding yourself a canine companion. Millions of wonderful dogs end up in shelters each year for SO many reasons with the hopes of finding their fur-ever home. Look at me and my sister, Coco….we are living proof that shelter animals make FABULOUS pets!!

Not ready to make that commitment yet – I understand – you can always celebrate “October is Adopt a Dog Month” by attending one of these fun events:

  • Saturday, Oct 2nd is the 20th Annual SPCA of Luzerne County Walk at Francis Slocum State Park
  • Saturday, Oct 2nd is the St. Francis of Assisi Blessing of the Animals at Gate of Heaven Church (9 am)
  • October 2nd to Oct 10th – if you are a New Yorker, this week is “New York Week for the Animals”
  • Saturday, Oct 9th is the Starbucks Wilkes Barre Blue Chip Farms Fundraiser from 10 am to 3pm
  • Entire Month of October: Contemporary Concepts Photography is running a promotion for Adopt a Dog Month – anyone booking a session during the month of October who has an adopted dog will get 25% off their session fee and print order.
